South Korea's 5G Network Will Let You Download a Full Movie in a Second

If you haven't experienced the increased speed of 4G yet, then not to worry, it's already obsolete.
If you’re still only using 3G, then it’s time to upgrade grandpa, you’re living in the past man. South Korea,  already one of the most wired countries on earth,  have decided that 4G is too slow for them, and are planning to invest 1.2€ billion in making 5G, which would be 1,000 times faster and capable of downloading full-length films in one second.

That would mean passengers on high-speed trains would be able to access the internet even at speeds of 500kmh (310mph), compared with the current limit of 300kmh.
South Korea is determined to protect its position as a global leader in super-fast internet connections. More than 78% of South Korea's 50 million people use smartphones; among 18-24 year olds, the proportion rises to a staggering 97%.
Under the roadmap, a trial 5G service will be rolled out in 2017 and a fully commercial service in December 2020.

Priority will be given to developing key features for the new network, including Ultra-HD and hologram transmission as well as cutting-edge social networking services.

Related industries will be able to rack up sales of 5G-related devices and infrastructure equipment worth 331 trillion won from 2020 to 2026, the ministry estimated.

The government hopes to implement the plan with investment and cooperation from operators such as SK Telecom and Korea Telecom as well as handset makers like Samsung and LG.
